Every once in a while a Windows PC will come across a network connection (wired or wireless) that just doesn't seem to want to stay connected. This can be caused by a bad switch/router, low wireless signal, or a bad cable/connector. Unfortunately by default the DHCP client in Windows is configured to renew your IP address every time the connection is dropped then reacquired. This can cause some serious delays in your computing experience.

Windows XP has a secret "System Profile" folder hidden within Windows folder that can possibly contain Gigabytes (yes, with a G) of data that could be deleted from your hard drive to save space which is ignored by all of the programs that clean up temporary files.

At this point, due to their thousands of jingle-filled ads, surely everyone in the United States (and a few in Canada & Mexico) has seen or heard an ad for freecreditreport.com. Unfortunately the name of the site is a marketing gimmick.

AVG has finally released version 9.0 of their Antivirus, Antispyware,
Antispam, and Internet Security offerings.
Since it’s been out for a few days, I figured it was time for a review

Since many viruses these days disable whatever antivirus solutions you have installed on your machine, we've provided virus advisories and an online virus scanning and removal tool as a public service. Requires Mozilla/Firefox with Java or Internet Explorer 5.5 or above.
