Your system seems to be crawling and when you check task manager spoolsv.exe is the culprit and you can't stop it, because it restarts everytime you end the task or reboot the computer.
Recently, I had a client with a computer that was suddenly crawling. spoolsv.exe appeared to be the culprit, ending the process does no good as the process will automatically restart as if it had failed. After researching on the 'net, and much filtering through google, I located the solution. Steps: - Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services
- Find Print Spooler
- Right-Click Print Spooler and click Stop.
- Click Start, Run, type "%systemroot%\System32\spool\printers", and click OK.
- Delete everything in that folder and close the window.
- Right-Click Print Spooler and click Start.
Check your task manager and ensure spoolsv.exe isn't using all the CPU again. Background: This situation is usually caused by a corrupt spool file in your Windows® printers folder. Either an unexpected shutdown or a power failure while the printer was attempting to print, or a bad driver spooled a printout to disk that was in a format Windows® didn't understand and the print spooler service freaked. This procedure will resolve the issue in 99.9% of situations. The solution to this issue was found at: Tim's Journal: spoolsv.exe hogging 99% of cpu! |
